Begapug

Created by crossing the Pug and the Beagle, the Begapug is a quite popular dog breed in the USA today.

The Begapug is a medium sized dog breed weighing 15-30lbs in weight, measuring 10-15 inches in height and is available in fawn, black, white, tan and brindle coat colors. Generally, the Begapug breed can vary from each individual appearance. Most Begapug's can have a taller and leaner appearance or be built lower and appear stocky. Their face may have a longer rectangular muzzle or be shorter in appearance, resembling the Pug genetics. Overall, the Begapug has less wrinkles than a traditional Pug, can have a black mask like the Pug and may or may not have a curly tail.

Known for their fun, loving attitude, the Beapug is a great family addition to almost any household. Known for getting along fantastic with children, guests and other pets, this breed enjoys being included in as many family activities as you allow. Begapug's can tend to bark and howl, which is a result of their Beagle genetics. This breed is known to be intelligent and energetic even into adulthood. As always, positive reinforcement training methods are the only recommended. Puppy training classes are highly encouraged.

The Begapug requires minimal grooming due to their short hair coat. This breed does shed. Daily brushing and regular bathing is required. Please pay special attention to wrinkles and ears, as they will hold moisture after bathing and this can result in irritation and skin infections. Cleaning regularly with cotton balls is the best way to avoid buildup of moisture or any dirt that may accumulate.

Please note that this breed is not meant for everyone. The Begapug is prone to skin and food allergies, hip dysplasia, cherry eye and Epilepsy. This breed is high energy even into adulthood. Please fully educate yourself about this breed prior to adding one to your family to ensure a life long commitment physically and financially for your new dog. A proper leash and harness or properly fenced in yard is highly recommended for your new addition. All dogs originate from wolves (Canis Lupus). Each breed of dog was originally created by mixing different breeds together in an effort to bring forth certain characteristics. Dog DNA testing companies can have accurate results for a specific bloodline of a small colony of dogs. However, there are tens of thousands of different bloodlines in the world which have not yet been tested for marker baseline results by Dog DNA testing companies as of 2024. For this reason Dog DNA testing companies do not guarantee the 100% accuracy of their breed lineage results and will also show different marker results for the same pure-bred breed in different continents, countries, territories, regions, breed clubs, and canine pure-breed registries depending on the goals of their breeders.
